Andreas Dahn’s combined know-how in storytelling, visual effects & VR is a rare catch.
After first internships in practical effects, he has been working as a visual effects artist in Germany and India. His credits include the Emmy-awarded series GAME OF THRONES, Wes Anderson’s GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL, Marvel’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 and the Oscar-nominated BBC short THE GRUFFALO.
At the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg he studied film directing and made multiple short films. He was awarded with scholarships at the University of California (UCLA) and the European Film Academy (EFA). His thesis film DER SANDMANN, based on the famous German gothic novel, was awarded at international film festivals, screened in German television and was published on DVD. As Filmmaker in Residence at the Zurich University of the Arts he explored new ways of virtual production by combining photogrammetry, motion capture, realtime rendering and VR. Besides his personal projects, he worked as a director for UFA GmbH, Intel Germany, MackMedia and Mack NeXT.
